Focal point cropping

I read you are planning to implement an image cropping tool in the backend - cool! I just stumbled over a (not new) concept I hadn't heard of before: for the "art direction" image cropping use case with different aspect ratios at different breakpoints - allow users to specify a focal point:

Maybe that would be a perch-like approach for easy image cropping (instead of the editors having to crop multiple variants for different breakpoints)?
