nice to have: New item another persisting only after edit

If you create an item with "Save and add another" (happens to me accidentally all the time, probably I want to hit an imaginary "Save and close" button), a new item is created and persists as "Item 1" even if you abort the editing without entering any data. You have to manually remove that item later.

A (completely) nice to have optimisation might be to move the creation of the item to the moment when that new item is saved.
