Blog no longer working

I've gone to add a blog post today and it doesn't work, I'm guessing it has something to do with recently upgraded Perch as I hadn't tested the blog since the update. I'm running 2.8.19 and blog 3.6.1. Are they incompatible?

I can get to the page to create a new post but on clicking Save I get this:

"The website encountered an error while retrieving https://mywebsite.com/admin/addons/apps/perch_blog/edit/. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly."

Please advise next steps, thank you.

You should update both Perch and Blog (and any other addons) to the latest version.

If you are still experiencing an issue after that we need to see your Diagnostics Report.

Hi Rachel.

Updating Blog has fixed the error, but I now have a problem with the categories. I tried following closely the "Updating from a version prior to 4.5" info on the installation support page, so I'm not sure what's gone wrong.

It has successfully copied across the old categories automatically - I can see them all in a set under Categories > Blog.

However, articles are not showing up in the category archives UNLESS I re-save the article.

Example:

https://eslstarter.com/whats-new-post.php?s=2015-07-16-earn-extra-cash-and-join-our-referral-program

You can see it says 'Posted in: News' at the bottom, but clicking on News will not show this article in the archive. The only one that is listed in this archive ("Special offers...") is one I re-saved in the admin.

When you updated the Blog app, did it cycle through and upgrade your posts?

It definitely did something and I waited as it finished, but I can't recall it specifying it was upgrading posts.

Did it cycle through your posts 10 at a time?

10 at a time rings a bell, but really I just saw it doing something and switched windows while it did it.

In the db I can see there is a table "perch2_blog_posts_to_categories" and the data looks correct.

Ok, great.

And if you click save on the post then everything is fine?

In terms of the categories, yes.

But all the posts used to use markdown and now I've switched to ckeditor, so if I re-save the posts I also have to re-format all the text. And there are maybe 100 posts.

Can you try the update again?

That's done the job. Ta!
