Assets not re-sizing correctly when upgrading from earlier version

I'm upgrading a Perch: 2.4.2 from to Perch: 2.8.26, which means updating exiting image to use Perch Assets which were not included in the earlier version.

I notice that if you...

  1. View any of the existing assets (Assets > Add/Edit > Editing ‘’ Asset the old image overflows https://www.dropbox.com/s/ag6h7v2n7ttzi6z/image-assets-upgrade.png?dl=0

  2. Adding any of the old (existing) images makes them overflow also the image container. https://www.dropbox.com/s/yf7mngzmwb5ando/adding-old-image-asset.png?dl=0

I could pick through each image and re-upload but in this case there's far too many.

Is there a way to fix this?

You don't need to use Assets - you can switch it off if you prefer.

Can you... How?

On an image or file tag:

disable-asset-panel="true"

But I suppose that won't cure any old image showing like this... https://www.dropbox.com/s/ag6h7v2n7ttzi6z/image-assets-upgrade.png?dl=0

Did you have GD installed when you imported the images?

These are all old images used in the site "pre" the Perch: 2.8.26 update. Anything added "after" is fine.

GD: Yes ImageMagick: No

I've noticed this before when upgrading. On small sites I can run the whole site and replace/edit update the images. But when I upgrade there's always image duplicates so you never know which is being used... https://www.dropbox.com/s/mv26rhst3703i5j/asset-image-grid.png?dl=0

Make's the job upgrading site will lots of images very difficult.

It's difficult because we can't go back in time and capture information that we don't have, and we can't do it now because people use rubbish hosting that won't cope with all that activity.
