Use Case for Focus Point Cropping
This thread doesn't necessarily require a response, and I know this feature is on your radar, I'd just like to provide a 'use case' I've come across with regards to cropping control and this initial thread — http://forum.grabaperch.com/forum/05-24-2017-is-it-possible-to-set-the-crop-focus-point-crop-orientation-for-images
I'm currently working on a website for a large flooring installer in London, and I'm making use of the
<picture> element to provide slightly different "feature image" crops depending on the viewport. Crop control would be perfect for this because all the images need to be cropped at the top only since the flooring is obviously always at the bottom of the image.
Currently, the only way around this I can think of is to provide a couple of extra image upload fields where I can upload manually cropped images. If I could say to Perch 'only crop the top of the image when it comes to height', this would eliminate the need for manual, extra image uploads.
