Write settings 777 Safe for Resource Folder?

Is it safe to have your write settings set at 777 for the "Resource" folder?

I attempted to using write settings 755, but the apache environment for the hosting won't allow me to upload files via Perch unless the "Resource" folder is set to 777.

You should probably ask your server administrator.

Any ideas why 755 permissions are not working? I usually use 755, but for some reason, this apache configuration is hindering the ability to upload files via the CMS.

Does Perch provide any protection like Drupal? (For example, Drupal has a similar "files" location that is always writeable to the web server process, and Drupal enforces protection/security of the location.)

Check which user/group the folder is owned by. Otherwise, your server admin will be able to help you. I can only make guesses as I've got no information at all about how your server is configured.
