Does Do Not Index remove the page from being found in perch search?

A client has a page that is in a sort of draft mode, but there's no draft mode for pages, and they'd like it to not be found in the site search. Does the Do Not Index checkbox in Page Details remove the page from perch search indexing in addition to indexing by external search engines?

If not, what would you suggest as a workaround?

The page attribute is just for external search engines, which may or may not adhere to it.

For the Perch search results, use the "Include in search results" option in the Region Options.

Follow-up question that just occurred to me:

Once those are unchecked and the region is saved, how long does it take for those results to not show up in search?

In Perch search? It's instantaneous.

That's what I thought, but regions are still coming up in perch search.

This is the "Include in search results" option in the Region Options, right?

Nevermind. It turns out there's multiple versions of this page I wasn't aware of.
