Redactor Image Uploads without Shortcode

I'd like to disable the shortcode function for images in Redactor. Even if it means losing access to the asset tray. Is there any way to do this?

Yes, you can specify a custom Redactor configuration and remove the custom Perch plugins.

Thanks Drew, I can see from the docs example how to add plugins to default editors , but how can we remove custom Perch plugins?

There's a plugin called perchassets. You can specify the plugins option in your custom config, so make sure that you don't include perchassets in that.
