Do you allways need to run a compatibility test?

Hi there,

Just trying to transfer a client site over to the new server. I didn't run a compatibility test because i already know it's a compatible server, as I've used perch on this server before.

I've followed all the instructions to transfer a perch site but it still comes away with a error message, "There's a problem with connecting to the database. Please check your settings."

As far as i'm aware all my database details are correct and I've changed them all in the config.php file. So i'm just wondering if you need to run the compatibility test every time you need to transfer a site?

Many thanks,

//Cam

The test will help you identify if there are any problems more easily than just installing Perch.

Also new versions of Perch have different requirements - we made PHP 5.3 the lowest allowable version for example this year - so the test is a good place to start if you have a problem.

Thanks, Rachel. You're right - everything started working after doing a test and then install.
