Alternative to Perch Gallery App

Hi all, Wondering if anyone knows of another way to create albums rather than having to use the Perch Gallery App. Not finding it all that user friendly and to be honest I much prefer the idea of creating custom templates and just having repeaters to upload the images.

The only downside I can see to custom templates though, is that I only seem to be able to upload one image at a time. For an album of say 10 + this becomes quite impractical. Is there a way to bulk upload just using custom templates?

I've tried to read up on the gallery app but I haven't been able to figure out how to simply spit out all albums and their respective images nicely in divs.

Any advice appreciated
