Delete multiple items in a region at once

The current functionality for deleting regions is to press the 'delete' button and they 'yes'. I've got a client who would like to delete multiple items in a region in one go. Some kind of region option to 'delete multiple' which produces check-boxes labelled 'delete' next to each item, instead of the delete button, with a 'delete selected' button at the bottom would be great.
