PDF Asset replacement or update

Hi,

I have a client that has uploaded PDF documents for each of their products. Due to a regulatory change, they need to update each PDF with a modified version.

What is the best way of achieving this?

  1. Obviously the client can upload a new version but this leads to confusion in the Assets panel as we would have duplicates.
  2. If we edit an asset, we can 'Choose file' again - but seem to remember this not working as expected in the past?
  3. Replace the files in the resources directory via FTP?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The normal procedure would be to upload a new version of the file to use on whichever page is used to publish that file.

Obviously the client can upload a new version but this leads to confusion in the Assets panel as we would have duplicates.

Assets have titles and tags, so it should be possible to labelled the one that is outdated.

How did you expect it to work?

Replace the files in the resources directory via FTP?

Yes, you could do that.
