How to stop arbitrary carriage returns in MarkItUp

I have enabled MarkItUp in a textarea field, however I would like to be able to stop carriage returns, i.e. via the Enter key, in deference to using Perch repeater tags.

Is this possible?

Also, is it possible to remove certain formatters such as H1 etc?

That's not something Perch does currently. You could implement it yourself using a custom field type, but we don't have it built in.
