dataselect attribute value

A forum member answered a question in another thread, that was also answered by a moderator but I did not realize there were actually two problems I was discussing.

Is it possible to use a locked text element instead of a select list, i.e. for single values?

It is fine going forward to have only one value but that might appear strange to another person.
