Creating a copy of a collection item

My suspicion is that this isn't possible, but just in case ...

I have completed a client site using Runway, with - amongst others - a collection used for his training events.

He quite often does events that have many similar details, just in different locations and on different dates. He has asked me if there is any facility to create a copy of an existing item that could then just have the different bits amended. I can't see any way to do this, but wondered if there's something I might have missed - or if there's a reasonable straightforward programmatic way you would point me in the direction of.
