Random item from Repeater?

Is it possible to pick a random item from a repeater element?

I was possibly thinking with perch_content_custom and sort-order

Repeaters can't be sorted or filtered. They're intended for micro content items - if you find yourself wanting to address them as individual content items in their own right it could be pointing to the need to refactor.
