Multi language fallback to english?

I am looking at the possibility of using strategy 2 from this solution https://solutions.grabaperch.com/architecture/how-do-i-create-a-multilingual-site

However, is it possible to show content from "en", if "es" or "de" content is not available. It may better than showing blank page to the customer.
