Navigation and Page Links

I cannot seem to find the answer to this so please forgive me if this has already been asked.

I need to create a navigation system, where by the user can add / change the item text and select a page from the all the pages on the site.

I have already sorted a default template and the user can create pages, but I need to know how to link to them.

I can do the text side but I can not work out the HREF side. The user will not have access to ftp etc to be able to rename any pages.

Can you not use the Navigation functions?

https://docs.grabaperch.com/docs/navigation/

Not that I know or understand how. I did look through the docs.

<li><a href="<perch:content id="file" type="slug" label="Link to" for="MenuText" />"><perch:content id="MenuText" type="MenuText" label="Menu Text" /></a></li>

I have tried the slug type as above but this will not work if the text is changed.

I don't understand why the user needs to create their own navigation rather than output the navigation automatically. What's the use case?

Thanks for the reply. I have re-read the Navigation Documents and this will work. I totally misunderstood the navigation side. Sorry.

Thanks for all the help.
