Youtube field type -> Youtube API v3

Are there any plans for fixing the Youtube field type (migrate it to the new Youtube Data API 3.0)? I have a client site that uses the youtube fieldtype heavily together with the Event app. Now they are not able to create new events with videos or edit and save any events created before the API was deprecated (unless they first remove the videos).
