Linking to Assets

Hi, I'm building my first site with Perch and it's great. However I can't seem to find a way to link to an uploaded PDF. I've uploaded the PDF into my assets and I want to link to it from within a text block. The only way I can find to do this is to copy the link from the assets folder and paste it into the link box while editing text block, is this how I am meant to be doing this?
