I've looked through the docs and forums, but cant seem to find any reference for a way to add multiple items to the cart. Can this be done?

Do you mean multiples of one item or multiple different items at once?
Sorry, multiples of one item. So, an input next to the add to cart button where you can enter your quantity before hitting add to cart, for example.
