Is there a way I can create a template for entering code in the CMS?
If I use a textarea for the template it seems to strip out a lot of the code I paste in?

What sort of code? If it's HTML, add
html="true"to enable HTML.PHP Code.
PHP for display, or PHP that you're expecting to be parsed and executed?
