Fixing the Perch Updates Feed in Feedly

I just had some difficulties trying to get the Perch updates to show up in Feedly again, where it had stopped working more than a year ago. I figured I would mention that here as it might help other people to fix their subscription – according to Feedly 37 people are subscribed to the non-working feed and only 1 to the working one.

Searching for “Perch News” or even pasting the address https://grabaperch.com/rss/news in the Feedly search bar shows the non-working feed to me. However, the current, working feed can be found by adding “.xml” to the address, i.e. searching for https://grabaperch.com/rss/news.xml in Feedly.

I don’t know why the Feedly updates broke but maybe there is something you can do at your end to fix it?

That sounds as if your feed used to be viewable without .xml and now is not - that's something under your control, perhaps via rewrite rules, but isn't under ours.

Just to clarify, this wasn’t about a feed of any of my Perch websites but about the “Perch News” feed of your website and how it appears incorrectly in the popular feed reader “Feedly”.

Ok - have you updated the URL there?

There doesn’t seem to be a way of doing that. Searching for “Perch News“ or for the feed url without the .xml extension shows the feed with entries up to March 31 2014. The updated feed is only shown when the url with the .xml extension is used. The Perch Blog feed seems to work fine though.

It seems to me that the problem is on the side of Feedly. Maybe they don’t manage to follow the 301 to the https address? I have posted a suggestion in the feedly forum to ask them to fix that: https://feedly.uservoice.com/forums/192636-suggestions/suggestions/10141311-fix-301-redirects-from-http-to-https-address-of-a
