Compatibility of mod_pagespeed?

My hosting provider is offering activation of Google's mod_pagespeed and I am wondering if anyone else has tried to implement it on a Perch site, and, if so, whether they have seen any benefits.

With all the rewriting it does, it sounds to me like a really good way to trash a CMS-driven site, but that is just a gut feeling.
