Permissions: hiding the My Site menu from certain roles

I have a user role "Editor" that has permissions only to access the Blog app and a single Collection ("Magazine Articles").

The Blog app and Magazine Articles collection are accessible to the Editor role via a sidebar menu I have created via Settings > Menu manager. I am trying to hide the other sidebar menus from these users via Menu manager > Menu options > For users with privilege and setting this to a permission that only Admin users have. This works for the "Organise" menu, but not for the "My Site" menu, which is still visible on login to Editors.

Am I missing something, or is it just not possible to hide the My Site/Pages menu?

Edit: I guess the menu is visible on login because Pages is the default location after login. Can this be changed, or am I requesting a new feature?

Simon, Is this a Runway Install? I am guessing so, as I don't think Perch has a menu manager. Make sure you're completely up to date, as there was a problem with the menu manager in earlier versions of Runway.

That being said, you should be able to customize the menu as well as restrict it with user privileges. Make sure you're setting the privileges on the entire menu, not on the menu items...

Hi Robert, thanks for the reply. Yes, it's Runway (sorry), and up-to-date (3.0.10).

The My Site menu is configured like so (the Editor role does not have "Change settings" privilege): https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5WyxjE7o1qfNDlYWTFsQ0RfR0U

When I log in as an Editor I see the Pages screen, which is part of the My Site menu: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5WyxjE7o1qfczBXWlBjNTFMQlE. Editors have no Page edit permissions set at all, so this screen is useless (and confusing) to them.

I think I am asking for new functionality, but the preferred behaviour is probably for Editors to be taken on login to the screen of the first item in the first menu visible to them - in this case "Blog".

Are you saying that you have two different installs that work in different ways?

Not sure I understand the question Drew, it's just one install and no reason to believe another one would behave differently.

Sorry, I thought you'd said something about another site.
