Perch Shop stop promotion on Sale items

Hi,

I don't think this is possible at the moment, but I would like to be able to exempt sale items from having promotions applied to them. This could be an option to tick as part of the Promotion setup - "Apply to Sale Items" or something. If it is currently possible can you tell me how I can achieve this?
