Perch Select fieldtype, handling a big list
I'm using the Perch select fieldtype in my template and it contains values from a gazetteer list (town names). The number of values is very large, approx. 1500 towns. Whilst I can add this in the template, it's getting very unwieldy, do you know of a better way of handling this?
I'm doing it this way so that the client can choose from a list without entering typos, so that the values are accurate and correspond with the gazetteer data. The resultant data is added into a third party site (RightMove) as well so it has to match with their gazetter terms.
You could maybe use a collection (only in Perch Runway), a category or a dataselect fieldtype which would allow you to manage the list of town names outside of the template.
Yes, I would go with the data in a collection and a Related field. That would give you type-ahead search and the ability to browse the list.
