Disappearing Assets
Hi. My client has had two of his images disappear from assets and the blog posts they were featured in. This seems to be a recurrence of a problem which I posted about in a previous thread. You advised running the update which seemed to solve it, but looks like the problem may have returned. It could be something client side, but I just want to make sure nothing strange is afoot.

Were these recently added or older assets?
The latest couple were about three weeks old. When we had this problem before some of the images that disappeared were about seven months old. But most older and newer images were unaffected.
Which version of Perch were they added under?
FYI - we have been having the same issue on a couple of websites...
From looking into it on our sites; - seems to affect only image assets - is connected to long blog posts with a lot of image input fields - sometimes it's only the thumbnail previews being deleted - does not seem to be related to updating page but occurs after a period of time
We note you can set assets to be 'library assets' to prevent them being "cleaned up". Perhaps images should be set to be library assets by default and untick this if you are uploading test images??
One other thing to mention... one site running the latest Perch, sometimes seems to be missing the resized/cropped image size and file name of an assets uploaded to the page. (These are not missing assets, but have been in the past - so not sure if related).
The latest two to disappear were added with version 2.8.26. When this was happening before we were on version 2.8.7. And like Stuart it seems to only be images.
Is it also on overstretched pages?
Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by overstretched. But these are the blog posts that were affected this time round.
Main image for this one, we've since replaced it.
And the images are still missing from this one. Looks like we may have lost a few more actually.
Stuart said that this was "connected to long blog posts with a lot of image input fields"
Of the posts affected this time, one has two images and the other has four, and they're both not very long.
You're on an old version of Blog. Is there a reason you can't use the current version?
Drew - was this a known issue that was fixed in Blog updates?? If so, from what version?
I'd be interested to know that too.
And the blog version was current at the time the site was launched. I haven't been running updates for him unless there's a problem as he doesn't have a maintainence contract, I'm just on bug fighting duty as needs be.
Yes, we've fixed a bunch of issues relating to asset logging across the entire software base. Unless we can confirm that the issue is occurring with the current releases, there's no point investigating it.
Sure thing. I'll run the update soon as I can and report back
Okay, update is done. I'll keep an eye on things to see if that's fixed it.
