Workflow Recommendations for Perch

Hi everyone, I'm first time Percher and I'm looking for some general advice on how to approch working with Perch as apposed to developing from Scratch or working with other CMS such as WordPress or Joomla, as I've done in the past.

With a CMS like Perch would you approach a small site by first creating a static version of the site in plain HTML/CSS and then convert that into a dynamic site using Perch or would you start your development with Perch integrated from the start?

Also hearing about any build tools such as grunt/gulp that you like to use in your day to day dev, would be interesting as well :)

If it's a new site, I would probably start with Perch. Identify all your different layouts and page types, and build those as master pages. Then start creating new pages using those master pages.
