Form "forgets" file selected for upload

Dear Drew, dear Perchers,

When a required field is not filled in a form, the form is displayed again with the error and all the other fields "remember" the previously filled data. Except for the file upload field, which "forgets" the file previously selected for upload. Is there a way to make it "remember" the file? The file upload field is not required.

This may be a usability issue resulting in lost files, since users expect the file field to behave just like the others.
