Blog author not selected until "Meta & Social" section saved

Same issue as here.

When writing a new post the blog's Author is not captured after the post is saved (doesn't matter if Status is set to Published or Draft).

In order to capture the Author, you need to click the Meta & Social tab in the smart bar, pick an author, and save. In the linked forum post Drew mentions this is not intended behaviour.

Any chance this will be addressed?
