Hi Drew,
Can a blog entry be just an 'excerpt' on the listing page? i.e. have no corresponding detail page. Client sometimes wants to have a short blog entry (that would appear in the blog listing/timeline) but simply link to a 3rd party site or simply somtimes the short entry appearing in the listing but no detail page, and at other times follow the excerpt/detail pattern.

Great. I've had a go and got it working by not having the post as a required field and then by hiding the links to the detail page in the listing wtih perch:if exists tags. Is this the best way of doing it?
There are lots of options, so I'm not sure if there's one 'best' way. If it's working for you then you should be fine.
